Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic confirmed on Saturday that Robert Lewandowski wants to leave the club in the summer.
Lewandowski is Barcelona‘s primary target after a potential move for Erling Haaland was ruled out. The Polish striker has received an offer from Barcelona and it remains to be seen whether the two teams will reach an agreement, as the player has one year left in his deal.
“I spoke to Lewa,” Salihamidzic told Sky Germany.
“During the conversation he informed me that he did not want to accept our offer to extend his contract and that he would like to leave the club.
“He said he would like to try something new, but our position has not changed, Lewa has a contract until June 30, 2023. That is a fact.”
The Lewandowski transfer fee
Bayern Munich are not expected to agree on moving him for less than 40 million euros and his salary demands are high.
Barcelona want to sign a striker and a winger next summer. But for the time being, the Blaugrana don’t have the funds to do so.
Lewandowski is Barcelona‘s primary target and it remains to be seen whether his decision not to renew his contract with Bayern Munich will lead him to the Camp Nou, as the German side may look to cash in on him now rather than let him leave for free next summer.
