Real Madrid were one of the unfortunate teams to suffer as a result of UEFA’s botched first-attempt at the Champions League round of 16 draw, with Emilio Butragueno labelling the process as both unfortunate and difficult to understand.
Within his role as Director of Institutional Relations at Real Madrid, Butragueno watched his side be paired with Benfica in the first attempt at the draw, only for Paris Saint-Germain to be drawn as their revised opponents.
“It was unfortunate, surprising, regrettable and very difficult to understand,” Butragueno detailed.
“Considering the millions of fans who were waiting for the draw, as well as the entire world of sport.
“We will face with all the enthusiasm, aware of what this competition means for the club and for our fans, we hope to be in the quarter final draw.”
