Osagi Bascome, a Bermuda international and former youth-team player for Valencia and Levante, has died aged just 23 after being stabbed repeatedly in Bermuda.
St David’s police have confirmed that they have arrested a 24-year-old in suspicion of the murder of Bascome.
It is being reported by the BBC that the young footballer was confronted outside a restaurant on the island after attending a party.
Osagi Bascome’s career
The 23-year-old Bermudan striker started off his youth career at Valencia and Levante before signing for Bristol City in 2017.
After being unable to break into the Bristol City side, Bascome had a short spell at Massanassa before joining English side Darlington in the National League North, the sixth tier of English football.
Following a short spell at Darlington, Bascome returned to Bermuda to play for St George’s Colts in the Bermudian Premier Division.
The forward also represented his country in the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup, starting every game as Bermuda were eliminated.
His father Herbert Bascome is the head coach of the Bermuda national cricket team.
