Sevilla: Sevilla lose interest in Martial due to Manchester United’s inflexible demands

Sevilla’s sporting director Monchi has not been in contact with either Manchester United or Anthony Martial‘s agents for more than a week, due to the Premier League club’s high demands. The Red Devils asked Sevilla to cover half of Martial‘s salary and also pay a loan fee for the remainder of the season, but the Andalusian club can’t afford to make such an investment in the winter transfer window.

Martial has requested to depart Manchester United, but the Red Devils are not willing to lower their demands and this means that a potential move to Sevilla is ruled out for the time being, as United are not expected to change their stance.

Meanwhile, Julen Lopetegui is not willing to comment on transfer targets, but Sevilla are aware that their squad will have to be strengthened if they are to stay alive in the LaLiga Santander title race.

Sevilla‘s lack of liquidity means that Monchi is trying to sign players on loan, but doing so in January is not the easiest of tasks for the sporting director.

Sevilla’s alternative targets

One of the players that Monchi has placed on his radar is Bologna‘s winger Riccardo Orsolini, with reports from Italy revealing that Sevilla want to get him on loan until June. However, the Serie A club, who paid 15 million euros for the 24-year-old back in 2019, are reportedly not contemplating such a deal.

Orsolini is not the only player to have attracted interest from Sevilla, as free agent Cedric Bakambu has also been offered to the Andalusian club. However, Sevilla are not able to meet Bakambu‘s high salary demands, with his agents asking for a signing bonus and a long-term contract for their client.
