‘The Crown’ season 5 begins filming amid casting issues

The new season of Netflix’s The Crown has begun filming amid ongoing casting issues according to Production Weekly. The filming kicked off at Elstree Studios this week.

Another batch of award-winning episodes is on the cards as the cast begin rallying to bring us another ten instalments of pure pomp and pageantry. We expect the new season to land in 2022.

The casting issues see a few big roles still without an attached actor. A few large roles, including Prince Philip, have not yet been announced. The first role that bosses would like to get filled is a difficult one.

Many reports have suggested the show’s bosses are finding it hard to fill the role of Prince Harry. The Sun reported that casting directors were struggling to find any ginger-haired actors to fill it.

The season will see the young Duke of Sussex from the ages of six to 13, ending with the tragic death of his mother, Princess Diana. Emma Corrin, who wonderfully played the Princess in the previous season, will not be reprising her role with The Great Gatsby star, Elizabeth Debicki, taking it.

Lesley Manville will be Helena Bonham Carter’s replacement to play the late Princess Margaret. It’s expected that the cast will reprise their roles in the show’s sixth and final season.
