Former president Donald Trump’s new social media platform, Truth Social, is expected to launch this coming Presidents’ Day, February 21, according to the Apple App Store listing. Subtle, just like the press release announcing the new social app which said Truth Social would be “a rival to the liberal media consortium” designed to “stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech.” The October announcement for Truth Social stated, “We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American president has been silenced.”
According to The Verge, it’s not clear if Truth Social will be available on Android smartphones or the web. The outlet also noted that the social platform might be by invitation only at launch. The New York Post reported that Trump Media & Technology Group plans to launch a subscription-based streaming network, TMTG+, which will feature “‘non-woke’ entertainment programming, news, podcasts, and more.” Trump’s new company is already raising eyebrows after reports that federal authorities are investigating because it is “keeping basic details secret and making wild promises,” per Axios.
