The Truth About Robin Thicke And Bob Saget’s Friendship

Robin Thicke took to Instagram to offer his condolences at the untimely death of his friend Bob Saget on January 10. “Heartbroken. Bob Saget was a close friend to our family for over 30 years. He was there at my fathers wedding and funeral,” Thicke wrote. “He was groomsman at my uncle Todd’s wedding. He was the kindest, most gentle soul. Forever loved,” he continued. “I know my Dad is there to welcome him in Heaven with a joke and a hug. We love you.”

Evidently, Thicke viewed Saget as something of an older brother, or a father figure, thanks to Saget’s close relationship with Thicke’s own dad, Alan. Alan is probably best remembered for his role in a different 1980s and 90s sitcom, “Growing Pains,” in which he played Jason Seaver. Thicke shared a series of photos, including Saget and Alan having dinner and Saget standing by his uncle as a groomsman at his wedding.

Saget and Alan maintained a close relationship over the years. “So sad is the passing of Alan Thicke. Such a good husband, father, brother, and friend,” Saget tweeted after Alan’s death. “He will be deeply missed. Rest in peace dear Alan.” According to People, Saget was also one of a few celebrities in attendance at Alan’s 2016 memorial service.
