Eric Dier has banned his mother from attending football games as he claims abuse in English stadiums is getting worse.
The soccer player also stated that some of his friends and family members were abused during a game against Chelsea last month.
“I had some family and friends at the Chelsea vs Tottenham game recently and they had problems and stuff,” Dier said.
This is not the first time the defender has reported abuse. In March 2020, the player himself jumped into the stands to defend his brother from a fan. As a result, Dier was banned for four matches and fined 40,000 pounds

Unsurprisingly the player was not happy with the way the situation unfolded.
“I’m not happy at all with the way that incident was handled,” Dier explained.
“I don’t know what I can say about it because I don’t know if I’ll get fined again or whatever.
“It wasn’t as dramatic as people paint it. But yeah, I don’t regret it at all and I would do it again.”

Following the incident that took place two and a half years ago, the defender has claimed that the situation has deteriorated further and he has now told his close circle to stop attending matches, especially away games.
“My mother has not gone to an away game,” Dier stated.
“She would love it, but I would worry, and that’s crazy, isn’t it? All of our families go through that.
“I’m not saying it’s just Chelsea or Tottenham fans, it’s fans in general.”
