Meghan King married her first husband, former Major League Baseball player Jim Edmonds, in 2014. Edmonds brought with him four children from relationships prior to his marriage with King. “I love kids and I loved being a stepmom, but it’s just a lot of baggage,” King recalled of Edmonds’ children on “The Viall Files” podcast. The couple famously had trouble conceiving, but ultimately welcomed three children together, daughter Aspen and twin boys Hart and Hayes. In 2018, Edmonds and King went on vacation to mend cracks in their marriage after having three kids in two years, she explained in a blog post.
Scandal hit their marriage in 2019 when it was revealed that Edmonds had an affair via sexting, allegedly while King was pregnant. Edmonds denied rumors he had fully stepped out on his wife in a statement to Us Weekly. “I engaged in an inappropriate conversation with this person,” he said. “At no time was there any type of relationship or physical contact.” King and Edmonds’ divorce proceedings turned ugly when King accused him of sleeping with their family’s hired help.
“It’s one thing to be accused of something,” Edmonds responded on his Instagram (via Us Weekly). “It’s another thing to be so negligent and so careless, and ruin the lives of innocent young people.. I did not sleep with our nanny.” The two stars publicly battled each other for months before their divorce was official in May 2021.
